ORC WEEK 3 & 4: One Room Challenge

THE WALLS: Over the past few weeks, I’ve been preparing and implementing the Modern Glam nursery design. Now it’s time to take you along in the design process with me and my Better Homes & Gardens One Room Challenge friends.

Because we were updating the house as well as implementing the design scheme we replaced and added some light fixtures. As well as switched out the light switches to rocker switches and updated the outlets. Updating a home is in the details, it’s incredible what new white switches and outlets will do for a room.

I’m completing this design alongside Interior Design bloggers across the nation. We are teaming up to finish out those spaces that need extra love. We are sharing the experience with you for inspiration and ideas.

One of the biggest impacts to this room were the sconces. I had been lusting after these West Elm sconces for ages and finally this room seemed like the perfect fit. Not one but two sconces at that! They are wall mounted and corded so we centered them in the faux wall panel then installed.

We did the same thing with the set light, just installed and plugged in the cord. For baby safety we did use some cord management. I also liked using paintable raceways to help keep our clean look.

Now we move on to week 4 where we installed all the furniture and hung the art.

The next item we installed were the window coverings. The woven shade was from Blinds.com which is my go to place. I’ve never been disappointed with their quality or product and their return policy is incredible. We ordered woven shades with blackout lining so I had full control over the light in this nursery. This time I also selected cordless controls. It was for safety reasons but honestly this option is pretty awesome..

These curtains were purchased at the same time the wall color was selected so they would match. I wanted them to be fairly seamless besides texture. And as always the curtains extend to the ceiling.

Finally we were installing the dump truck artwork that hangs above the crib! This piece was the original inspiration for this room and it makes me so so happy. We ordered the image and sent it to framebridge to be custom framed.
