ORC WEEK 2 : One Room Challenge
THE WALLS: Over the past few weeks, I’ve been preparing and implementing the Modern Glam nursery design. Now it’s time to take you along in the design process with me and my Better Homes & Gardens One Room Challenge friends.
Who wants to just do standard paneling when you can hand paint it to add a little whimsey. My design board inspiration pic was executed this past weekend with lots of white paint, a long level and a bit of creativity.
I’m completing this design alongside Interior Design bloggers across the nation. We are teaming up to finish out those spaces that need extra love. We are sharing the experience with you for inspiration and ideas.

Applied wall paneling is the hot trend in the home design these days, and I couldn’t resist but join the action. But it just seemed too sophisticated for a baby room, so when I came across this hand-painted version on Pinterest, it felt like I struck gold. Painting imperfect lines are right up my alley, and the light whimsey this solution would bring is just right.
This wall design started out with Benjamin Moore Snowfall BM OC-118. It was the perfect bright white with a hint of warmth. From there I decided on the pattern of the paneling design. Rules of thumb are 4” from every surface, including window frames and doors.
The black paint color was a custom color made from acrylics. I mixed an ebony paint and a warm grey to achieve a subdued black. Using a giant level I pre-traced all the perimeter paneling lines 4” from one another. Then sent the boys out the house and got to work with my imperfect lines. That was the easy part.
